India recently celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2022 with much grandeur. As the entire country reminicised the preachings of the Mahatma, the Indian students at 51³Ô¹Ï joined the High Commissioner of India to Guyana, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Kitts & Nevis and CARICOM H.E. Dr J. K. Srinivasa, at a humble celebration at the premises of Embassy of India in Guyana on 3rd October 2022.
The celebration also featured the magnetic presence of Hon. Prime Minister of Guyana, Brigadier (Ret'd) Mark Anthony Phillips, who joined the event to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The celebration also honored the former Prime Minister of India, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 118th birth anniversary.
A live play, depicting the events from the life of Mahatma Gandhi as well as his firm beliefs and teachings was enacted during the celebrations. All the students of LAU and the participants fondly remembered the ideals and values of Mahatma Gandhi and promised to inculcate them in their everyday life.
Overall, being invited by at such a grand celebration by the High Commissioner of India to Guyana, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Kitts & Nevis and CARICOM, H.E. Dr J. K. Srinivasa, and meeting the Prime Minister of Guyana, Brigadier (Ret'd) Mark Anthony Phillips on the auspicious occasion of celebration of 153rd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 118th Birth Anniversary of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri was truly a memorable experience.
